At Driftwood Pictures, we are fully equipped in-house to produce high-quality VR content that can be experienced in stunning, immersive detail through the latest VR headsets, including the Meta Quest, Apple Vision Pro, and other cutting-edge devices. We use the highest quality VR180 cameras, allowing us to capture immersive content with exceptional clarity and depth. This advanced technology enables us to transport audiences into fully realized environments, creating experiences that are not only engaging but also deeply impactful.

We’ve already produced several short films using VR180, pioneering the use of this technology to engage with hard-to-reach youth. Our VR content has proven to be a powerful tool for storytelling and education, creating an immersive space where young audiences can connect with important messages in ways traditional media cannot match. By embracing these new technologies, we have been able to create unique, transformative experiences that leave a lasting impression.

Our VR expertise spans a wide range of uses, from fictional storytelling to capturing important life events, such as weddings, in a way that allows you to relive the moment with astonishing realism. Whether you’re looking to capture the magic of a special event or produce a full-length immersive narrative, we have the tools and expertise to make it happen. Additionally, we understand the power of VR for educational and training programs. With VR, we can place your employees in real-world scenarios, giving them the chance to learn and practice without any of the risk involved. This means safer, more effective training, whether it’s in high-stakes environments or complex operational tasks.

At Driftwood Pictures, we are committed to harnessing the power of VR to push the boundaries of what’s possible, offering innovative solutions tailored to a wide array of projects, and delivering immersive, high-quality content that captivates and educates.

Frequently Asked Questions

VR180 captures a 180-degree field of view — everything directly in front of the camera — rather than a full sphere. For storytelling and branded content this is the superior format: all the resolution is concentrated where the viewer is actually looking, producing noticeably sharper images than full 360°. It also allows for proper lighting and controlled backgrounds that full 360° filming doesn’t permit. VR180 is the format of choice for professional immersive content on Meta Quest and Apple Vision Pro.

We produce content compatible with all leading consumer headsets, including Meta Quest 2, 3 and Pro, Apple Vision Pro, and Pico 4 — as well as any device that supports standard VR180 or 360° playback. Content can also be delivered for mobile VR viewers and flat-screen viewing, meaning audiences without a headset can still watch the film.

No studio required. We film entirely on location with our own equipment — our VR camera rigs are compact and built for real-world environments. We’re experienced working in challenging locations including community centres, youth clubs, schools, offices, outdoor spaces, and live events. If you have a space, we can work with it.

The applications are broader than most clients expect. Common uses include immersive storytelling and social-impact documentary (our VR film on knife crime in London was funded by MOPAC), employee training and induction programmes, property and venue walkthroughs, event and performance capture, and fundraising or awareness experiences for charities and public-sector organisations.

A typical VR production runs 4–8 weeks from brief to delivery, depending on complexity. A focused single-location shoot can turn around faster; a multi-location programme or narrative production would sit toward the longer end. We’ll give you a clear timeline at the start of every project.

VR production does carry higher costs than standard video, primarily due to specialist equipment and post-production. That said, cost-per-impact is often very competitive: a well-produced VR experience is significantly more memorable than flat video. For training applications especially, the ROI against repeated in-person sessions can be substantial. We work with organisations of all sizes, including charities and public-sector clients, and are happy to discuss what’s achievable within your budget.

Yes. VR180 content can be delivered in a standard flat-screen format for viewing on a monitor, phone or tablet, with the ability to drag and pan around the frame. A single production can serve both immersive (headset) and standard (screen) audiences — well worth factoring into the brief from the start.

Start with the story or objective you want to achieve — we’ll help shape the right format. Many clients come to VR without a clear picture of what’s possible; part of our job is helping you see it. The best first step is a conversation: get in touch and we’ll talk through what would work for your project.
